Hafiz Abdul Rasheed, a teacher of Pakistan Studies at Federal Government Sir Syed College Rawalpindi Cantonment, has secured Ph.D. degree in Pakistan Studies from National Institute of Pakistan Studies.

Hafiz Abdul Rasheed has become the fourth visually impaired person to achieve this honour in Pakistan while have a singular honour to become the first blind person who has his thesis on the problems facing the blind community in Pakistan.

The topic of Rasheed's thesis is "Socio-psychological and economic problems of blind persons: A case study of Rawalpindi District." The research work done by this blind scholar was not only acclaimed by the scholars in the country but it is another honour for Hafiz Abdul Rasheed that all the foreign evaluators of his thesis had strongly recommended him for the Ph.D. degree.

Commenting on his thesis, Dr James Green of Washington University said, "This thesis is excellent, a bold and solid contribution to a better understanding of a human problem and all its complexities.–Staff Reporter
