Shopkeepers of Gujranwala Road, Jalalpur Road, Fawara Chowk, Post Office Road, Alipur Road, Rail Bazar and Vanike Road have called upon the Market Committee Administrator and DCO to immediately relocate both the grain markets from the congested areas of the city to resolve traffic problem in the city.

In a representation, they have pointed out that plan to relocate the grain markets outside the city was chalked out way back in 2000 and land for the establishment of new grain market was acquired on Madhrianwala Road. However, since then the plan to shift the grain markets, which is major cause of traffic hazards in the city, remained in cold storage. However, about two years back the allotment of shops were made and colossal amount was provided for the development but due to one pretext or the other the markets have not yet been shifted causing serious traffic mess on the city roads.
