The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has increased the electricity tariff by Rs. 5.8 per unit for the domestic as well as commercial consumers. The increase is massive. The people are in a shock. Already under unbearable inflationary pressures, they simply do not know how they would cope with the recent unwarranted increase in the electricity tariff which is going to have a chain effect on all items of daily consumption. The people sincerely expect that the incoming government will overrule this nerve-racking and consumer-unfriendly decision of NEPRA, and immediately withdraw the hike in tariff.
