SWAT - At least nine family members, included children and women, were killed and four others injured on Thursday when a shell, fired by security forces, hit a house in Balalai Alam Ganj area of Tehsil Khwazakhela. The names of the killed have not been ascertained. Meanwhile, the security forces continued bombing the suspected hideouts of militants with jet plans and claimed to have arrested 35 suspected Taliban militants from Kanju area during search operation. All the held militants have been shifted to some unknown location for investigation, sources said. The jet plans also pounded several evicted houses, including a mosque, razing them to the ground in various areas of Payochar, Toro Banda, Shoor and Trama of Tehsil Matta. A government school was also destroyed completely sources said. Moreover, security forces have claimed the destruction of the important hideouts of the Taliban. On the other side, spokesman of Teheek-e-Pakistan Taliban Swat chapter Muslim Khan has said that jet plans hit the evicted houses of the civilians not the hideouts of militants. He rejected the claims of the security forces and said no militant has been killed on in the incidents. "Our Taliban have already evicted the areas before military operation to avoid casualties", he said. Similarly, militants blew up four barbers' shops by planting explosive material inside the shops late Wednesday night. The militants also publicly lashed five alleged as drug paddlers. Agencies add: Jets also killed 16 militants in an airstrike on a school building used by militants in Swat's Matta town on Thursday, a military official said. "The jets bombed selected targets and destroyed a training centre and five residential compounds in Matta district," a military spokesman in the area told AFP. "The militants suffered heavy losses but we cannot immediately give the exact figure," he said. Local security officials said at least 16 people were killed and several others wounded in the bombing of the mountainous Swat valley.
