The need for improving law and order situation and curbing street crimes cannot be denied and police reforms are badly needed. But some of the fears about law and order in Karachi are rather exaggerated. People in Karachi still enjoy late night outings and go about freely. Many other big cities of the world, including New York, Delhi, Mombai etc face the problems we are facing. The problem unique to Pakistan is that besides terrorism, enemy agents are also active here in fanning riots and acts of sabotage. Every one of us has to cooperate in eliminating corruption and inefficiency in the law enforcement agencies. We must insist on getting our FIR registered and wherever police is at fault, try to put pressure through our MPAs and MNAs.-ARIF N. KHAN, Lahore, November 18.
