LAHORE  - Lahore Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Capt (retd) Muhammad Amin Wains has directed the police to utilize all available resources to capture 700 gangsters, identified as the most wanted criminals.

“These most wanted criminals, also declared as proclaimed offenders, have become a threat to peace and development in the society,” the CCPO said while addressing a meeting of the Lahore police at the Police Lines Qila Gujjar Singh on Saturday.  DIG (Operations) Dr Haider Ashraf, DIG (Investigation) Shahzad Sultan, SSP (I&D) Sohail Sukhera, SP (CIA) Muhammad Omar Virk, SP Zahid Nawaz Murwat, and SP Headquarters Omar Saeed were also present on this occasion. The DSPs and station in-charges of the CIA and AVLS police were also present on this occasion. The Lahore police chief also directed the department to provide 14 new vehicles to the Crimes Investigation Agency (CIA), a special wing of the police supposed to hunt down organized gangs of criminals. The CIA and AVLS – Anti Vehicle lifting Staff – would work on the same pattern with proper staff, equipment, and accommodation.  Addressing the last week's police superintendents' conference, the CCPO said he had got rid of action plans and would not micro-manage what individual forces got up to, but warned that he had noticed targets “making a comeback.” Police and crime plan objectives bear no resemblance to previous departmental targets. The cops and crime plans are designed to reflect the views of local people and not constrain police officers from cutting crimes. The police are also working to fix head-money on the arrest or killing of the desperate gangsters.
