LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that the “London Plan jointly prepared by Imran Khan, Dr Tahirul Qadri and Chauhdry brothers” was a conspiracy against the countrymen as it aimed at destroying country’s economy.

Talking to media after presiding over a meeting on the relief activity in flood-hit areas on Saturday, the chief minister said that Imran Khan had been lying about his meeting with Tahir ul Qadri. He said that the London plan was an evil conspiracy, exposed to public now. He said that Imran Khan and his cronies had destroyed economy and they would never be forgiven by the masses.

Shahbaz said Chaudhry Brothers defrauded billions of rupees in from the Bank of Punjab and also got their loans written off. He said that the PML-Q leaders played a heinous role in destroying economy of the country, warning “they are on the same mission again.” He said that postponement of the visit of Chinese President was one of the targets of the London plan. He said that the Chinese leader, during his visit to Pakistan, was supposed to sign the agreements worth $32billion, besides laying foundations stone of a number of energy projects and other development programmes which all have been jeopardised due to the sit-ins. “Those who are staging dance shows at D-Chowk are unsympathetic towards the flood affectees,” Shahbaz commented.

He said that the federal and provincial governments would put every effort for the rehabilitation of flood-hit people.

Shahbaz Sharif visited flood affected areas of Hafizabad, Chiniot and Multan and inspected relief and medical camps set up for the calamity-hit people.

The National Highways authorities and other concerned institutions have opened Multan-Muzaffargarh Road for traffic by completing rehabilitation work within 48 hours. Addressing the inaugural ceremony, the chief minister congratulated the administration, NHA, Pak Army and concerned institutions for their efforts.

He said that it was not the time for politics of protest but to serve the masses. He said that the sit-ins at such a critical juncture would drown the politics of Imran Khan. He once again suggested the protestors to quit the sit-ins and serve the distressed people.

Sharif also directed that all out help and assistance would be provided to the flood hit people and relief activities should be further accelerated. He further directed that provision of financial assistance to the families of those who have been killed in flood be ensured within next 24 hours and a report should be submitted to him. He said that efforts would be made for the postponement of electricity bills of the flood affected areas for a month or two and a request would be made to federal government.

Shahbaz Sharif warned the administration of his surprise visits and advised it to stay alert. He said that the situation in flood-hit areas was improving and the first installment of compensation to the flood affectees would be paid before Eid. The CM said that he would celebrate Eid with the flood affected people. Later, the Chief Minister addressed Jhang administration from Faisalabad through video link and reviewed relief and rehabilitation activities and directed the authorities to stay put.
