Rawalpindi - The newly appointed Chief Commissioner Islamabad Zulfiqar Haider has so far not contacted high-ups of Army, FC and Rangers for discussing the security situation of Red Zone.

The government handed over the security of the capital to army before the start of PTI and PAT marches from Lahore to Islamabad. The government appointed Haider after getting disappointment from the performance of acting Chief Commissioner Mujahid Sherdil, as the latter failed to stop PTI and PAT workers when they moved towards the PM House.

Zulfiqar started from where Sherdil had left, as he did not call a meeting of all security forces deployed in Islamabad to discuss security situation and preempt any untoward incident. The bigwigs of all forces used to meet daily in cabinet division building to discuss security situation before August 31; however since after tear gas shelling incident on August 31, they have not met.

Sources informed that all deployed forces are devising their own security strategies and might follow their own security plans in case of emergency.

The security forces on August 31 mishandled the protesters of PAT and PTI and fired tear gas shells on them due to lack of coordination and since then security managers have not met again.

Well-placed sources informed The Nation that in the last meeting held on August 31 the forces discussed how security forces would tackle protestors if they stormed any building in Red Zone. The sources said that responsibilities of all forces were distributed under a security plan in the last meeting but the DC did not follow the set plan which not only enraged the police but also the army; therefore since then no meeting has been called again.
