LAHORE - A festive ceremony to unveil the logo of Pakistan Super League (PSL) held here at the Expo Center on Sunday in which several prominent cricket and showbiz stars participated.

Test captain Misbahul Haq and T20 Captain Shahid Afridi have said that such events should have started long ago. A large number of guests including women cricket team and stars from cricket and showbiz industry gathered at the festive ceremony to unveil the PSL logo.

Speaking at the launch ceremony, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Shahryar Khan said international cricket players would join the PSL, which would benefit national players. “We will also expand the spectrum of Pakistan Super League,” Shahryar said.

Winners will be awarded with $10 million prize money, whereas, each player will also earn over $50,000, disclosed former PCB chairman Najam Sethi while speaking at the event.

Talking on the occasion, Test captain Misbahul Haq said that events like PSL were what Pakistan needs. T20 captain Shahid Afridi also made a colourful entry. He said: “The PSL is major good news for Pakistan cricket.” Shoaib Malik and Umar Akmal also played strokes as ceremony’s innings started. They said that youngsters will benefit a lot from the event.

The logo for the much-hyped league was also unveiled while Ali Zafar performed on stage, revealing the league’s anthem. The national women cricket team, along with celebrities including Mahirah Khan, Ayesha Omer, Nadia Hussain, among others were part of the star-studded event.
