ISLAMABAD  – National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has warned heavy monsoon in some areas of country and asked the respective provinces to submit contingency plan for meeting the emergency by April 30.

Chairman NDMA Dr Zafar Iqbal Qadir addressing a press conference said this year heavy monsoon is expected in southern Punjab, lower Sindh and some districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhaw.While famine is also expected in Chagi, Kharan and Cholistan.

NDMA has also finalised a plan to raise its Rapid Response Force by year’s end. Director General Rescue 1122 has been asked to help providing technical facilities. NDMA was also planning to initiate the insurance of the people of vulnerable districts, so that in case of future disaster compensation could be paid immediately.

Chairman NDMA Dr Zafar Iqbal Qadir  said the rescue operation of the crash of Bhoja Air plane was completed in five hours. NDMA immediately mobilised the rescuers after the crash.

However there were some problems due to choked, narrow roads to the site of the accident. Some equipments could not be transported to the site. Immediately after the crash communication system was collapsed.
