ISLAMABAD - A three-member judicial commission has been formed to investigate the matter regarding the attack on senior journalist and TV anchor Hamid Mir.

The judicial commission, announced by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to investigate the attack on Hamid Mir, is expected to start its proceedings anytime during this week. Chief Justice of Pakistan Tassaduq Hussain Jillani approved the names of three judges, Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali, Justice Iqbal Hameed-ur-Rehman and Justice Ejaz Afzal, to be included in the judicial commission. Officials of the Ministry of law, Justice and Human Rights confirmed that they had received three names for the judicial commission.

Meanwhile, journalists’ organisations continued protest against the attack on media workers throughout the country on Monday. The Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists held a protest demonstration outside the National Press Club, Islamabad. Office bearers of various journalistic organisations working in Pakistan believe that murder of journalists has created a sense of fear that affects all media professionals in Pakistan. Also, Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid has said it is shared responsibility of government, intelligentsia and media to respect the integrity and dignity of institutions.
