LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Monday said that no delay will be tolerated in the implementation of Saaf Pani Project which is an important programme of public welfare.

He was presiding over a high level meeting to review the pace of Saaf Pani Project. Shabaz said that the provision of potable water to the needy is his commitment and those who wasted two and a half months in this project will have to give explanations. The Chief Minister strongly reprimanded senior officials of NESPAK and Housing & Public Health Engineering Department for slow pace.

The CM issued orders for immediate posting of Secretary Housing & Public Health Engineering as OSD.

The Chief Minister said that drinking water is the right of every citizen. He said that those who drink mineral water in their offices have shown sheer apathy to this project. He said that Saaf Pani Project is of vital importance for saving the people from diseases and there is a need to implement this project with dedication and a spirit of service to the masses.

He said that Punjab Saaf Pani Company has been formed for the implementation of the project. The Chief Minister said that provision of resources for Saaf Pani Project is not expenditure but useful investment and a guarantee to a healthy society.  He said that a sum of 12 billion rupees is being spent on the project. He said that water filtration plants will be set up throughout the province under Saaf Pani Project.
