LAHORE  - Jamaat e Islami Secretary General Liaquat Baloch said Monday that forces against peace process had become active to sabotage talks.

Condemning the attack on senior journalist Hamid Mir, he said this was an attack on freedom of press and national security.

The JI secretary general stressed that the judicial commission set up to probe into the attack on Hamid Mir should complete its task with least possible delay and the federal and the Sindh government should expose the assailants and bring to light the whole plot behind the attack.

Baloch said the peace talks were the need of the hour and essential for the country and the nation. He said the entire country especially the tribal areas had suffered badly due to terrorism.

The wrong policies of the military dictator had driven the country to the present alarming situation and its continuation would only benefit the enemy. He, however, said if the government, the armed forces, intelligence agencies, the media and the analysts would get united in the struggle for peace to foil the enemy conspiracies, the peace talks would yield better results.

He said the JI would stand by the journalist community in their struggle for the freedom of the press, and the security of newsmen.
