MAILSI - A girl and a woman were killed in the name of honour in separate incidents occurred in Tibba Sultanpur and Karampur areas of the tehsil here the other day.

According to details, Muhammad Rafiq, a resident of Chak 198/wb in Tibba Sultanpur spotted his daughter 14-year-old Humaira, talking to someone on her cellphone when she was alone in her house. Seething with anger, he killed his daughter by getting her hanged from a ceiling fan with a rope. He attempted to portray the incident as suicide but the police arrested Rafiq on suspicion who during investigation confessed to have killed his daughter for honour. The Tibba Sultanpur have registered a murder case against the father after autopsy of the girl.

Meanwhile, in Karampur, Najma Bibi, wife of Yaqoob informed the police that her daughter Shumaila was killed by her husband Hassan Raza, father-in-law Ghulam Jilani, and her brothers-in-law Asif and Javed. She alleged that the accused tortured and later poisoned her to death. On the report of Najma Bibi, the police sent Shumaila's dead body to THQ Hospital for autopsy and arrested three accused.

Meanwhile, the deceased woman's husband Hassan Raza claimed that his wife had committed suicide by consuming poison and denied having killed her. He claimed that his mother-in-law wanted to implicate them in the case and that they were innocent. The Karampur are waiting for autopsy report.
