BUREWALA - The police failed to arrest accused of the robbery-cum-rape incident while the affected families have sought protection as they felt their lives were in danger.

According to details, Muharram Ali, Muhammad Ramzan, Abdul Rehman and Muhammad Yaqoob, residents of Chak 299/EB houses were looted by nine armed robbers. The bandits allegedly gang raped two women of the family during the incident but the accused who were traced with help of traditional detectives including Sarfraz alias Saffi, Malko, Tanvir and Sher Khan cloud not be arrested.

According to relatives of the affected families Nazar Muhammad and Muhammad Sajjid, the Vehari DPO has appointed new investigation officer Sub Inspector Zafar Ullah but he still have not arrested any suspect. They said that accused were dangerous criminals and were threatening the family with dire consequences. They alleged that the police had not yet received medical report of the sexual assault victims. When contacted the police officials concerned claimed that they could not arrest the accused as they had got bail from the court.
