KARACHI - Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf has announced to stage protest at Sindh Assembly on Tuesday (today) against the provincial government for restricting the Rangers’ powers in the province.

PTI leader Subhan Ali Sahil said the law and order situation in the province had been improved due to implementation on the National Action Plan through Rangers. “Sindh government is restricting Rangers’ powers in order to hide its corruption and other illegal activities,” he said.

Meanwhile, different political and social organizations, traders’ bodies had also assured the PTI of their support against the provincial government. He said the PTI leaders would march from passport office towards Sindh Assembly. He warned the Sindh government that if they will stop them from staging peaceful protest then a nationwide movement would be initiated against the provincial government.

Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) claimed to have shot dead a militant in an encounter in Surjani locality. Heavy contingent of police raided a militant hideout located in Surjani Town where militants offered resistance. During an exchange of fire, one of the terrorists was wounded. CTD SSP Naveed Khawaja said the team raided the hideout on a tip-off where an encounter took place and one militant identified as Riaz sustained bullet wounds. He was taken to hospital where he succumbed to injuries.

Naveed said the killed militant had a reward money of rupees 2.5 million and he was involved in various terrorist activities including the bomb blast in Azizbhatti police precincts. He also claimed to have recovered an explosive-laden car from his possession and a huge cache of weapons. Police shifted the body to morgue after autopsy and registered an FIR.
