ISLAMABAD – Dr Wahid Bux Jatoi was funded by Higher Education Commission (HEC) to pursue a post-doctoral fellowship at France in the synthesis and development of new painkillers. He belongs to rural area of Khairpur, Sindh.

Dr Jatoi worked on the research project, which was part of multidisciplinary research of various universities of France and United Kingdom on development of new, effective and targeted analgesics. He successfully synthesised many compounds having possible analgesic activities.

These compounds were characterised by using various spectroscopic techniques including NMR, IR, GC-MS, HPLC and Colorimeter etc. He participated in various conferences and symposiums and also submitted one research paper for publications in reputed journal and other two are in process.

Dr Jatoi got an opportunity to work in a world-class research environment where he proved himself to be a good researcher and has demonstrated his abilities to visualize and plan research and projects. He is a self-motivated researcher and has demonstrated to work both independently and as a team member. He demonstrated impressive communication skills during his presentations.

Dr Jatoi developed a strong linkage with the academia and researchers of France during his stay in France. He wishes to exploit the peer-networking for the future research and extension programmes between Pakistan and France.

HEC-funded Post-Doctoral Fellowship was a great blessing for his to achieve research and professional goals. Due to such type of training programs, mutual understanding and collaboration will definitely increase the standard of education in Pakistan.

Dr Jatoi has joined his parent organisation, Shah Abdul Latif University Khairpur after successful completion of 9-months of his fellowship tenure in France.

Post-Doctoral Fellowships Programme is providing 700 slots to the faculty members and researchers holding PhD degree, to work in the top-notch universities and state-of-the-art laboratories in technologically advanced countries. These fellowships are offered on open merit at the national level. The slots are reserved for faculty members of public sector universities and institutes and R&D organisations.

So far, 563 scholars proceeded to the host universities and 507 scholars have successfully completed their Post Doc studies and joined their parent organisations.
