KARACHI  - A new weather system entered Pakistan overnight causing intermittent showers in most areas of Sindh and Balochistan on Thursday.

According to Media Reports, several Sindh areas which received overnight downpours include Sukkur, Larkana, Nawabshah, Khairpur and Jacobabad; while Balochistan areas include Naseerabad, Jafferabad, Dera Allah Yar, Osta Muhammed, Kandhawa, Dera Murad Jamali and Chaman. The rainfall plunged the mercury further down causing the people to begin again using the warm clothes. Dera Ghazi Khan is also witnessing the sustained spell of rain.

People in most rain-washed areas are facing problems as the electricity went off as soon as the fresh wet spell began in today’s small hours.

According to Meteorological department, the rain spell is expected to last during the next 48 hours.  The Met Department also said the upper areas will receive downpours and it will snow in the mountainous areas.

LNHMC postpones convocation: Liaquat National Hospital and Medical College (LNHMC) has announced to postpone first convocation of its graduates (class 2012), scheduled for Feb 23. The organisers in a statement on Thursday said the event had to be postponed due to prevailing situation in the city and that a new date for the convocation would be announced soon.

They also expressed their regret for any inconvenience caused to the graduates and their respective families.

An institute of post graduate medical and health sciences, besides college of nursing, school for physiotherapists and paramedics were also integral part of LNHMC.
