LAHORE - Land grabbers tortured the manager of Journalists Housing Colony and a security guard and threatened them of dire consequences in Hurbanspura police limits on Tuesday. The manager Aqeel along with a security guard Fida Hussain was going to Lahore Press Club from Journalists Housing Colony when six armed accused intercepted them and injured them badly. The land grabbers also looted 67 thousand rupees from them. President Lahore Press Club, vice president Zahid Abid, General Secretary Azam Chaudary and members of governing body condemned this brutal incident. The president has said that on one hand Punjab Chief Minister has ordered to launch crackdown against land grabbers while on the other hand activists and leaders of PML (N) were busy in grabbing the land of Journalists Housing Colony. The accused land grabber Abdul Majid has displayed a board of PML-N outside his house. On June 16, Abdul Majid had tried to grab the land of a journalist Akhat Hayat. Police arrested the accused but released him later. The office bearers of Lahore Press Club have said that concerned DSP Baghbanpura and SHO Rana Akmal were also patronizing the land grabbers. They have demanded strict action against the land grabbers otherwise a protest demonstrations will be held outside CM House and CM Secretariat. Reportedly, a few days back during a meeting with Azam Chaudhry, the CCPO Ahmed Raza Tahir had extended his 'sincere efforts in busing land grabbing gangs within days but not a singal step has been initiated against the land grabbers. The CCPO was also told about DSP and SHO role in patronization of land grabbers but still the cops are involved in heinous crime but the authorities concerned are mum over the grave development.
