LAHORE A speeding bus belonging to a local company crushed an 18-years-old student to death in the Liaqatabad police precincts early Tuesday morning. The deceased was identified as Muhammad Nauman, a resident of Main Bazaar (Liaqatabad). Muhammad, a college student, was trying to board the bus, bearing registration plate number FXD-123, to go to his college. The driver, in the meantime, moved the vehicle without caring for the boy who was still outside the bus door. Muhammad fell on the ground and came under the rear wheel of the bus. He sustained serious injuries and died on the spot, the police said. The driver managed to escape. Meanwhile, a 21-year-old girl allegedly committed suicide after swallowing poisonous pills. The incident occurred in the North Cantonment police precincts on Tuesday. Mehnaz Raffique, a resident of Joray Pull, clashed with her family earlier in the day over some dispute and later took the pills, the police said. She locked herself inside a room and swallowed the poisonous pills. Her family, somehow, later opened the door and found her in a state of unconsciousness. She was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors pronounced her dead, the police added. Dead body: The dead-body of an unidentified 50-year-old man was found from the Shafiq Abad Police area on Tuesday. The deceased, yet to be identified, was lying in a state of unconsciousness near the Govt Girls College, on the Bund Road. 38 held: Mujahid Squad claimed to have arrested 38 criminals involved in a number of criminal acts committed in different parts of the City. An official handout issued by the Squad says the police have also recovered million of rupees, heroine, charras, sophisticated fire arms, live cartridges, and bottles of liquor while 36 cases of various natures have been lodged against them. Meanwhile, Garhi Shahu police hunted two robbers red-handed while their three accomplices managed to flee from the crime scene.
