MIRPUR (AJK) Some two persons were injured on Tuesday in two separate armed clashes among three rival groups in Nikayal town of Kotli district in the wake of ongoing election campaign for AJK assembly elections, official sources said. Kotli Deputy Commissioner Ch Muhammad Fareed told this scribe that one person was injured in the clash between the supporters of PML-N and the ruling Muslim Conference while another was hurt in another incident between the PML-N and the PPP workers in Nikayal city of AJK. The DC said in the first incident the PML-N workers clashed with the Muslim Conference workers at Parawah Chowk when a procession of the latters activists was passing through the Chowk. The incident led to exchange of fire from both the sides, he said, adding police rushed to the scene and brought the matter under control. However, the situation is still tense in the town, he added. Another incident took place at the same site soon after the first incident when a procession of the PPP activists was passing through the Chowk. PML-N and PPP workers scuffled with each other and one person was injured seriously. Fareed said additional police force was immediately dispatched to controlling the situation. A case has been registered against the hooligans and the police are after those involved in causing disturbance, firing and scuffle, he added. It may be added that Nikayal is the home constituency of PML-N top brass Sardar Sikander Hayat.
