NAUDERO President Asif Zardari Tuesday launched a tirade against PMl-N Chief Nawaz Sharif, JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman and what he called political actors running newspapers and TV channels. Addressing the PPP workers and leaders late Tuesday night to mark the 58th birth anniversary of Benazir Bhutto, he called upon the countrys political forces to play their due role in strengthening institutions and refrain from inciting clash of institutions. There is no single country in the world, which survived or achieved progress after its institutions including army were hurt. Do not speak against institutions. Do not talk about breaking them, President said. The President was critical of some political forces speaking against the countrys vital institutions and said they should think of the country and nation instead of their personal interests. Some imprudent politicians want to divide the officers and Jawans. It will have dangerous consequences, he warned. The President said the countrys vital national institutions including the army were fighting against the mindset, which has killed thousands of our people including Shaheed Benazir Bhutto. He criticized PML-N leader Mian Nawaz Sharif for speaking against the institutions and said the army was rendering sacrifices for the country and nation. He (Nawaz) wants the politics of Gen. Zia-ul-Haq, he remarked and added that the mindset which took the life of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto is being defeated. The President said some political actors were also disturbed over the governments policy of reconciliation as we allied with MQM, PML-Q and others to strengthen democracy. In indirect reference to Nawaz Sharif, Zardari said: Your political guru said you cannot face jail, as mosquito disturb you there. However, he (the guru) called me mard-e-hur. He said he was not afraid of activities of political actors. I wanted to write history rather to get a headline in tomorrows newspaper. He further said that Nawaz established cases against him but he had forgiven the PML-N chief. Like Nawaz, we didnt freeze his foreign currency accounts. The President held Nawaz responsible for Musharraf-led martial law and said the PML-N leader could not handle two-third majority. Its not necessary to recall whose political children they are. Zardari continued: The Punjab government has been served to Nawaz Sharif in a dish. He recalled that Pervez Musharraf offered him government in all four provinces but he rejected it.
