BAHAWALPUR - Islamia University Bahawalpur Vice Chancellor Dr Muhammad Mukhtar has said that as a nation our survival lies in the academic development.

He pointed out that literacy rate was extremely low in the country which was a matter of great concern for the entire nation. He was addressing the participants of summer camp on the occasion of sports day organised under Lodhran Schools Reforms Initiative under the auspices of Tareen Education Foundation (TEF) in collaboration with the Book Group and Punjab Education Department in the outskirts of Lodhran.

In the summer camp, hundreds of children and teachers from various schools of Lodhran districts participated. The VC lauded the knowledge-friendly initiatives of TEF for educational development of the area and declared it a precedent for others to follow. On the occasion, the schoolchildren presented colourful display of parade, athletics and martial arts.

Tareen Farms Manager Asim Nisar Bajwa, District Education Officer Ali Ahmed, Lodhran Pilot Projects Manager Barkat Ali Riaz, local social figure, Dr Sher Muhammad Awan and special correspondent of a private TV along with parents and teachers were present. Later on, Dr Mukhtar distributed trophies and prizes among participating students.

The VC also visited primary and high schools upgraded by TEF and inaugurated newly established science laboratory of a local school. He also visited newly constructed Faiz Ahmed Faiz High School and admired the facilities of library, audio video room and hygienic measures.
