QUETTA Three people including two police personnel were killed while 18 others sustained multiple injuries in two separate bomb blasts in Quetta and Hub on Sunday. Target of both blasts was police in both towns of Balochistan. According to police sources, unknown persons had planted explosive device in a bicycle and it was left at Kuwari Road of city. The bicycle was completely destroyed with a huge blast as vehicle of District Police Officer Khuzdar Nazir Kurd was passing by the area, an eyewitness Shaukat Hussain told TheNation who also sustained injuries in the blast. He said he was busy in work in his shop where he sustained injuries due to a splinter. Two police personnel identified as driver Ali Hassan and Deedar Ali died on the spot in the vehicle due to blast while 12 others including shopkeepers sustained injuries. Police vehicle also caught fire soon after the blast. People started rescue work and put off the water by using drain water saving the dead bodies of police personnel from burning. Police and other government officials reached the site very late and people themselves not only extinguished the fire from drain water but they also pulled out dead bodies of policemen from burning vehicle, said another witness Muhammad Yousaf Khilji while talking to newsmen. Edhi ambulances reached the site and they started shifting dead and the injured to Civil Hospital Quetta. One injured person identified as Niamatullah succumbed to his injuries in civil hospital while condition of two other injured is stated to be serious. Police and FC personnel reached the site and surrounded the area. This was a home-made bomb and it was planted in the bicycle, said a personnel of bomb disposal squad and added, Around five to six kilogram of explosives were used in the bomb and it was carried out through a remote control. DIG (Operations) Hamid Shakil told newsmen that the blast was carried out through a remote controlled device targeting the vehicle of DPO Khuzdar, however, DPO was not present in his vehicle. Relatives of the injured persons protested against non- availability of doctors in hospital. They also blocked Jinnah Road, in front of Civil Hospital Quetta. They shouted slogans against administration of hospital and provincial government. On the one hand, government has left masses at the mercy of terrorists while on the other hand doctors are not available in the hospital, said one of the protestors. Protestors also demanded strict action against administration of hospital for their failure to provide treatment to injured people on emergency basis. Gwalmandi Police have registered a case and started investigation. However, so far no group has accepted the responsibility for the attack. In another incident in Quetta, unidentified unknown attackers hurled a grenade at a grid Station at Sariab Road of Quetta City. The grenade went off with huge explosion. However, no loss of life or property occurred in grenade attack at grid station. Police arrested a suspect from the site, however it could not be confirmed whether he has any links with blast. In the meanwhile, seven people were injured in a bomb blast in Hub Industrial Town of Balochistan, some 30 kilometres in south of Karachi. Police sources said that two unidentified persons lobbed a grenade at a police post at Sakiran Road in the town. Seven people sustained injuries in the blast. They were shifted to local hospital for treatment.
