PESHAWAR The speakers at All Parties Conference (APC) Sunday asked the government not to present the recommendations proposed by the Constitutional Reforms Committee (CRC) in the Parliament, until reforms in FATA are made part of the amendments in the Constitution of the country. Organised by Jamat-e-Islami (JI), FATA chapter, the APC was held on Why FATA is deprived of constitutional reforms at Peshawar Press Club, and mostly elders and political leaders from tribal belt attended it. Prominent among the speakers were JIs FATA naib amir Haroonur Rashid, JI deputy general secretary for tribal areas, Dr Munsif Khan and Zar Noor Afridi and Senator Hafiz Rashid Ahmad, Iqbal Afridi of PTI, ANPs Abdul Samad Khan, PML-Ns Said Wali and President of Tribal Union of Journalists (TUJ) Ibrahim Shinwari. They were unanimous that the government had, so far, failed to fulfill its promises made about extending of Political Parties Act to tribal areas, which they termed regrettable and said that recommendations proposed for FATA should be made part of the Constitution. They said that it was the right time to form FATA Legislative Council by empowering tribesmen to play their due role following their tribal traditions. Terming military operations in the tribal belt, a conspiracy against tribesmen, they called upon the government to stop military operations in FATA forthwith, and ensure safe return of the displaced tribesmen. They demanded the elected MNAs or Senators from FATA to get united and raise a joint voice for restoration of peace, stability, prosperity and the implementation of the proposed constitutional reforms in the tribal belt. They said that it was the best way to get rid of all challenges by doing away the absolute powers of the Political Agents and introducing Local Govt system in FATA and called for a special financial package on the patron of package of Balochistan for tribal areas and compensate affected families. Govt to win war against terror at all costs: CM Chief Minister Amir Haider Khan Hoti has said that Peuchar (Swat) will be developed as a model valley and directed the authorities concerned for finalisation of development package within three weeks. He was addressing local notables upon his one-day visit to Swat, said a handout issued here on Sunday. Senior Provincial Ministers Bashir Ahmad Bilour and Rahimdad Khan, Provincial Minister for Information Mian Iftikhar Hussain, ACS Home Fayaz Toru, IGP Malik Naveed, GOC Major Genral Sajjad Ghani, district administration and high civil and military authorities were also present on the occasion. The Chief Minister, while approving the demands presented in the welcome address, said that Peuchar would be developed as model valley in recognition to sacrifices, bravery and courage of the people of Peuchar. He said Peuchar would be developed to an extent, which will remain as a source of sorrow for militants forever. It is to be mentioned here that Peuchar remained the hot bed of militancy during the insurgency. The Chief Minister said that the government was committed for elimination of the last terrorist and will win the war for survival of the country at all costs. There is no any other option except triumph in this war, he mentioned. He said that it was the result of the sacrifices of Pakistan Army and people of Malakand Division that the terrorists were on the run involved in shedding blood of innocent people, damaged mosques, attacked funeral prayers and were involved in target killing of innocent children. He said, We have to defend our motherland irrespective of political affiliations because politics are meaningless without country. Amir Haider Hoti said that he was so happy for coming to the beautiful valley of Peuchar where enemies to religion, country and peace were involved in damaging and destruction, adding that their words didnt match their deeds and had some other aims and objectives. They are unveiled to the public due to successful policies and initiatives of the government. The credit of establishment of peace in Peuchar goes to Pakistan Army and gallant people of the area, he remarked. The security forces have rendered enormous sacrifices for survival of the country and had faced any sort of circumstances with courage and bravery, he added.
