LAHORE - Opposition Leader in Punjab Assembly, Ch Zaheer-ud-Din while alleging the PML-N for pre-poll rigging in PP-111, Gujrat said that the provincial government has called the police squads from Gujranwala and Sialkot for getting the desired results in the by-polls to be held on March 24. He expressed these views while addressing a news conference along with Raja Basharat at Muslim League House on Sunday. He also criticised the Election Commission for its silence over the PML-N tactics to rig Gujrat bye-polls and warned to take up the issue of involvement of provincial ministers in election rigging in the Public Accounts Committee. Ch Zaheer alleged the PML-N leadership was showing no respect to election rules and regulations and using all means to rig the polls in PP-111. He said according to the decision of Election Commission, no transfer of officials could be made in the constituency till the date of elections but in Gujrat entire district administration was replaced by new officials. He announced that he would present all the proofs of pre-poll rigging before the Election Commission on Monday (today) but expressed disappointment that it was acting as a partisan body by remaining silent over the rigging tactics of the government. To a question regarding the option of poll boycott, he said that despite massing rigging plan of PML-N, PML-Q wouldnt leave the election field and remain in contest. To another query about the support of PPP to the parties in run for the polls, he said that Paganwalas, an influential group of PPP had extended its support to the PML-Q candidate. He said the unification of PPP and PML-N leaders including Ahmed Mukhtar, Tehmina Daultana and Saad Rafique at one platform in Gujrat polls reflected the sense of fear among the activists of PML-Q.
