DERA GHAZI KHAN - The heirs of a deceased, who was killed by SHO Hafiz Noor Ahmad and DSP Iqbal Chandia, have demanded action against the accused police officials and mob, which dragged his body on roads. After the reported refusal for the registration of case by DPO against police officers concerned, FIR was lodged against serving DSP Kot Chutta Circle, SHO Choti Zirin Police Station, 27 nominated, and 70 unidentified persons over the charges of murder and criminal negligence. While anti-terrorist act was also applied in Choti Zirin case on the interference of the divisional and district administration. As per FIR, lodged upon the report of Ghulam Rasool Chandia, the brother of deceased, told the newsmen that his brother Hafiz Abdullah visited the shop of Naseem Abbas Punwar (deceased) for the purchase of some edibles. While discussion, the later passed blasphemous remarks against the companions of Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH). On this, the former killed him. Later, Hafiz Abdullah surrendered to the police where DSP Iqbal Chandia ordered the SHO to shoot him. Obeying the orders, SHO Hafiz Noor allegedly fired the accused at chest and DSP fired him in the head. Resultantly, he died on the spot and the said cops handed over the body to the angry mob, relatives of deceased Naseem, who dragged it on the city roads by fixing rope in its feet. The unruly crowd carried DSP and SHO on their shoulders, chanted slogans in their favour, and burnt the body at the main chowk in the presence of the said police officials, the FIR added. Meanwhile, the heirs of deceased took out a protest rally that was started from Nawan Shehar, Chotti Zirin and after passing through all the main streets and roads, reached the RPO office where they staged a sit-in. They demanded the arrest of alleged killers and accused people and were chanting slogans against the outlaws. Shimla Khan, Habibullah Changwani and Muhammad Iqbal Khosa led the procession and while addressing the participants, they alleged that police was avoiding the arrest of accused SHO, DSP and others. They stated that they would be protesting till the arrest of accused. However, SP Investigation Ch Liaquat reached the spot and assured the protesters of justice. They also called upon District Police Officer (DPO) Kashif Mushtaq Kanjoo and District Coordination Officer (DCO) Iftikhar Ali Sahoo and demanded action against criminals. Talking to the newsmen, the deceaseds family alleged that DPO had refused to register the case while DCO and commissioner took serious notice of the situation and assured them that the case would be dealt on merit basis. However, the said DSP and SHO have been replaced over their alleged involvement in this regard, said the sources.
