LAHORE As many as 8000 armed policemen have been put oh high-alert to maintain peace and avoid any untoward incident in the provincial metropolis on the eve of Pakistan Resolution Day March, 23. Police officials said on Monday that on the directions of Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Muhammad Aslam Tareen more than eight thousand Police officers and Jawans would perform their duties on the occasion of Pakistan Resolution Day. CCPO ordered that special surveillance and checking of all hotels, inns and bus and wagon stands to ward of any possibility of subversion and to ensure law and order on the occasion of Pakistan Resolution Day 23rd March. He further directed making effective arrangements to ensure smooth flow of traffic on this occasion. Muhammad Aslam Tareen said that Lahore Police will remain on high alert in order to maintain peaceful atmosphere in the provincial metropolis. He was presiding over a meeting of senior police officers here today, in which security arrangements for Pakistan Resolution Day 23rd March were reviewed and its monitoring was discussed in detail. CCPO informed that all entry and exit points of the city will be covered. He said that crises management centers have been established in the city, which would function round the clock, while a special control room has also been set up in the office of CCPO for coordination between various agencies.
