BAGHDAD (AFP) - An improvised bomb has killed a US soldier in southern Iraq, the US military said on Monday. "A US service member was killed Sunday by wounds sustained from an improvised explosive device while conducting convoy operations in southern Iraq," the military said in brief statement that gave no other details. The fatality raised to 4,441 the number of American soldiers who have died in Iraq since the 2003 US-led invasion to oust Saddam Hussein, according to an AFP tally based on data from independent website www.icasualties.org.
