LAHOREJustice Chaudhry Iftikhar Hussain of the Lahore High Court on Monday called for a report from the Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) to a petition pertaining to the mysterious disappearance of the respective families of Faizan and Fahim who were killed by. Raymond Davis, at busy road of Lahore on January 27. Since March 16 last, when, Davis was set free against the payment of Diyat to victims families, their all 18 blood relations, have disappeared as the petitioner, Mansaf Awan apprehends threat to their life after the families have been given blood money. The judge ordered the CCPO Aslam Tareen to also appear in person on Tuesday (today) alongwith detailed report about whereabouts of families of Faizan and Fahim. The petition filed in the nature of habeas corpus enlisted Federal Interior Minister, Punjab Home Secretary and Punjab Inspector General of Police as respondents. He contends that the family members of the victims are missing but neither the Punjab not the Federal Government know their whereabouts. The petitioner asked the court to take notice of the sudden disappearance of the families following the release of Davis. It may be mentioned here that after Davis was flown out of the country to Afghanistan minutes after the trial court had acquitted him under Diyat law. Counsel for the victims families, Asad Manzoor Butt had claimed that the legal heirs have been coerced into signing the Diyat documents. But so far no one of the legal heirs has come to the picture after March 16 to clear the dust on this score while at the public level doubts still shroud the deal with regard to the question whether it was out of free will of the victims families.
