PESHAWAR - Clerical staff of different public sector institutes on Thursday staged a protest demonstration here in front of the press club, demanding up-gradation and increase in allowances.

The demonstration led by the APCA Central General Secretary Ashfaq Bacha, Provincial VP Jehanzeb Khan and score of employees from different govt departments. The protesting employees were holding placards and banners inscribed with slogans against the govt.

While talking to the media, Bacha said that government was least bothered to pay heed toward the miseries of clerical staff and met their demands despite protest and agitation campaign. “We are fighting for our legitimate right for a long time, but the indifferent attitude of the authorities concerned is creating greater unrest among the employees,” he added.

The APCA secretary further said that it was need of the hour to make a reasonable increase in salaries and other allowances as per the price hike of daily commodity items. He demanded the government to also upgrade the LDC from grade-7 to 11, and UAD from scale 9 to 14, whereas a head clerk should upgraded from grade 15 to 17.

He also demanded the immediate disbursement of TA funds withheld by authorities for last one year. He said the employees were facing difficulties in provision of GP funds. The protesting employees warned that if their demands were not fulfilled immediately, they would take extreme steps against it.
