LAHORE – The Lahore Electric Supply Company (Lesco) has recruited 350 people, violating the ban on new appointments imposed by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

In this regard a notification, holding the fresh 89 inductions on temporary basis, has also been issued at the behest of federal government. Lesco Human Resource Department said it had received list of 1700 people for the recruitments from the Governor's House and Water and Power Ministry.

On the other hand, Wapda Hydro Union has announced a strike against the illegal hiring. The ban on government jobs by the ECP was regularised as the large-scale politically-motivated recruitments have been made to influence the voters during general election.

The ban was put on in January 21 so that the authorities would not be able to get political advantages through these jobs. But the relaxation could be given on needy basis. This ban was not applied on the Federal and Provincial Public Service Commissions. According to this ban, Lesco is incapable of making such appointmenst appointments.

PPP SLOGAN: The Pakistan People’s Party is going to add new words “Dehshat se Mehfooz Awam, Ooncha ho jamhoor ka naam” in its slogan “Roti, Kapra Aur Makan.”

PPP leaders Samina Khalid Ghurki and Abid Hussain Siddiqui said this in a joint statement on Thursday.  The most important thing would be the protection of the people and the PPP was a major opponent of extremism and it had struggled a lot for peace in the country, they added.  They said the PPP workers fought for peace their role for democracy restoration was memorable.
