KARACHI - Sindh Assembly Speaker Nisar Ahmed Khuhro has said that completion of assemblies’ constitutional tenure of five years is a sign of strengthening of the institutions after 18th amendment.

He was addressing a press conference at the committee room of the Sindh Assembly along with Larkana’s prominent personality and PML-F leader Ali Raza Shah Rashdi, who announced joining of the PPP.

PPP’s central deputy general secretary and former information minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, PPP Sindh’s vice president Jam Mehtab Dahar and PPP leader Khurhsid Junejo and others were present on the occasion.

Khuhro said that Ali Raza Shah Rashdi was the younger brother of PML-F’s central leader Akbar Shah Rashdi and brother-in-law of Mehtab Akbar Shah Rashdi.

Ali Raza Shah Rashdi is a new entry in the PPP, who also served as Naib Nazim of Larkana district. Khuhro welcomed Rashdi in the PPP, saying that with PML-F’s leader’s joining the party will gain strength in the district.

On this occasion, Ali Raza Shah Rashdi said that his family had old relation with the Bhutto family since Sir Shahnawaz Bhutto. He said that he joined the PPP without any demand and condition.

Speaker Khuhro termed the nomination of the caretaker chief minister with consensus a historical decision.

He added that the doors of martial laws have been closed forever through inserting a clause in the constitution in 18th amendment. Keeping the constitution in abeyance has been declared as punishable as well as institution which justifies to the coup would also be liable of punishment.

The speaker said that with the completion of five years term by the assemblies and governments had enhanced the trust of the people in the vote and democracy, which was planted recently. He hoped that democracy would be strengthened without any interference.

Khuhro said that person who used his/her right to vote believes in the politics so no one can be non-political either he was caretaker or caretaker ministers. The speaker also hit hard against the Nawaz Sharif, saying that Sharif does not believe in the democracy as he is product of martial law and left the country for ten years. He claimed that PPP would sweep in the next elections.

He said that Justice (r) Nasir Aslam Zahid and Rasool Palijo were the opponents of the PPP, so according to the democratic principles they can’t be candidate of caretaker premier.
