The Supreme Court (SC) has allowed Jamshed Dasti to hire counsel in his review petition against disqualification over holding fake degree.

It should be mentioned that a six-member larger bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry had disqualified Jamshed Dasti on March 25, 2010 for contesting elections while holding a fake degree.

During the hearing of review petition on Friday, Justice Tasaduq Hussain Jilani remarked that Dasti had come to the court very late against the order.

He said that 954 days have been passed since the SC order.

Justice Tasaduq Hussain Jilani asked Jamshed Dasti if he wanted to hire counsel in the case.

Upon this, Dasti sought time from the court to hire lawyer in the case.

Subsequently, the court allowed Dasti to hire counsel and adjourned the hearing of the case for indefinite period of time.
