RAWALPINDI - A suspected robber was killed by bullets of his accomplices during a dacoity bid at Najam Shaheed Road, the area of Police Station (PS) Westridge on Thursday.

According to police, one Bashir, who was associated with money changing business at Mall Plaza Saddar, along with his employees, was heading home in his car carrying money in a bag when three robbers embarked in another car started chasing him.

The police added that after a little chase, the robbers stopped Bashir’s car and pointed guns on the money changer and his servants.  As the robbers tried to snatch the bag full with cash, a scuffle occurred between them and the money changer managed to grab a robber. To which the other two robbers started indiscriminate firing at the money changer and his men but a bullet hit their own accomplice who was killed on the spot while remaining two robbers managed to escape from the scene in their car, police stated. The police took the dead body of the deceased robber into custody and later shifted it to District Headquarter (DHQ) Hospital for postmortem.

However, the name of the robber could not be identified by police as nothing was found out from his pockets.

Till the filing of the report, police were probing into the matter.
