MULTAN - Dubbing President Asif Ali Zardari the biggest ‘Pharaoh’ of this era, former foreign minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Vice Chairman Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said that Zardari will be responsible if he was attacked.

Talking to the journalists after conclusion of Urs of Hazrat Shah Rukn-e-Alam here the other day, he said that he was going to challenge the Pharaoh with the permission of his murshid. “I Know they have long hands. They are in power and they have the support of agencies, but yet I’ll face them despite being alone,” he declared. He added that he would start a tour of Pakistan from March 23. He said that President Zardari subjected the nation to sheer injustice and many bigwigs of Sindh joined his ranks after getting horrified. “Beware! I am not the one who gets afraid. The blood running in my body belongs to those who never surrendered before the emperors of sub-continent,” he added.

He accused President Zardari of making compromise on different sensitive national issues, adding that Pakistan was passing through a tough phase. He said that he would challenge the looters of national wealth come what may. He claimed that he was disseminated messages that he was moving in a dangerous direction and threats were given through different channels. “But I am not the one who gets afraid of the rule sitting in Islamabad,” he declared. He said that he had no lust for any offices as he kicked his office two years ago and now he was going to fight the war for Pakistan.

SHAH RUKN ALAM’S URS CONCLUDES: The three day 699th annual Urs of renowned saint Hazrat Shah Rukn Uddin Alam concluded here with special prayers for the progress and prosperity of the country.

The concluding proceedings were led by former foreign minister and sajjada nasheen (caretaker) of the shrine Shah Mehmood Qureshi and clerics as well as faithful from across the country joined the concluding session. The participants of the last session of the urs also held special prayer for peace in the country.

Speaking on the occasion, Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that the law and order situation had deteriorated and national security was in jeopardy. He added that unrest was being created in all four provinces under a vicious plan and national solidarity was disrupted. He asked the nation to realise the gravity of the situation and unite at one platform. He said that all important cities of the country including Quetta were on hit list of terrorists.

He stressed upon the Ahle Sunnat to get united, saying it was vital for restoring peace in the country. He said that he visited different areas and shrines for the protection of Ahle Sunnat, saying that he did not want any office or rank. He said that the shrines of saints were also on the hit list of terrorists and he brought the sajjada nashins of all shrines together at one platform to chalk out a joint line of action. He said that personalities with big stature existed among Ahle Sunnat but we got stuck on tiny issues. He warned that the country would suffer irreparable loss of the Ahle Sunnat failed to unite. Later, a mass prayer was held. The faithful left for their respective areas after the conclusion of Urs.

Heavy contingents were deployed on this occasion to maintain law and order.
