ISLAMABAD - Commander of Resolute Support Mission and US Forces in Afghanistan, General John Nicholson and Army Chief General Raheel Sharif yesterday discussed host of issues including quadrilateral peace process in Afghanistan.

According to ISPR, matters of mutual interest and regional security with particular emphasis on coordination along Pak-Afghan border and reconciliation process in Afghanistan were discussed during the first visit of General Nicholson to GHQ Rawalpindi since his appointment.

The newly appointed Commander Resolute Support Mission and United States Forces-Afghanistan also appreciated successes of operation Zarb-e-Azb and efforts of Pakistan for regional security.

Nicholson is a veteran of multiple deployments in Afghanistan. He commanded the Army's 75th Ranger Regiment as well as the 82nd Airborne Division, Pentagon had said on his appointment.

Meanwhile, Argentinian Ambassador to Pakistan Rodolfo J. Martin Saravia paid farewell call on Chief of Army Staff, General Raheel Sharif at General Headquarters in Rawalpindi on Monday.

The Ambassador appreciated successes of operation Zarb-e-Azb and efforts of Pakistan for regional security.     

The Army Chief appreciated his efforts in fostering Pak-Argentine relations during his 12 years long tenure.
