LAHORE  - Airport Security Force (ASF) on Wednesday claimed to have foiled a smuggling attempt by arresting two accused and recovering 504 small tortoise from their possession. The accused persons identified as Zahid and Irfan are handed over to the Customs officials for further investigations.

A spokesperson for ASF said the alleged smugglers were leaving for Thailand on flight TG-346 along with small tortoise when they were detained at the Lahore airport.

Meanwhile, security personnel detained a woman Mumtaz Bibi at the Lahore airport after they recovered more than 18,000 tablets (XANAX) from her possession. The lady was leaving of Jeddah on flight PK-759. She was also handed over to the Customs authorities for further interrogation.

Terrorist arrested

An alleged militant has been arrested during a security operation in Gulshan-e-Ali Colony in the cantonment locality, a private TV channel reported Wednesday.

Reportedly, the security and intelligence operatives raided a hideout in the cantonment area and arrested a man. He was shifted to an unknown location for further interrogation.

Without mentioning the name of the alleged militant, the news channel also claimed that the terrorist was involved in Youhanabad bombings. The local police did not confirm the arrest saying they had no information about the raid.
