ISLAMABAD - Islamabad Sihalah and Bhara Kau police stations on Saturday arrested 27 suspects including 15 Afghan nationals as they could not produce any document for their identity, a police spokesman said.

Bhara Kau and Sihala police conducted search operation in various areas of their jurisdiction in which they screened houses, workshops, markets, under construction buildings and residential areas.

Following the directions of IGP Islamabad Tahir Alam Khan and SSP Islamabad, search operation has been initiated and the police are conducting checking at slum areas, inns, hotels and restaurants and Afghan habitats. These measures are being taken to ensure foolproof security and keep vigilant eye on the suspected elements.

On Saturday, various teams of Bhara Kau police conducted search operation in various areas of its jurisdiction including `Kot Hathyal while Sihala police station conducted thorough combing and search in its respective area. Police commandos including lady Commandos, women police also participated in operation while sniffer dogs were also used in some areas.

Such search operations would continue in coming days and complete combing would be made of sensitive areas, the spokesman maintained.

The teams succeeded to arrest 15 Afghan nationals residing illegally in the country while 12 other suspects were also arrested. The SSP Islamabad has said the purpose of his search operation and high vigilance is to ensure foolproof security in the city and he further directed all SHOs to continue it. He has also appealed the citizens to remain vigilant and inform police in case of any suspicious activity around them.

Meanwhile, police have impounded over 200 motorcycles during general holdup in the federal capital during the last two days. According to a police official, the general hold-up was conducted on the direction of Senior Superintendent of Police Islamabad Sajid Kiani for taking action against vehicles driven without documents.

He also directed all police officials to ensure effective security and patrolling measures in their respective areas. The official informed that different police stations of capital including Abpara Police Station, Kohsar, Margalla, Shalimar, Bahara Kau and I-9 have set special checkpoints to check motor bikes’ documents.
