Five police officials, posted at different police stations, yesterday were suspended for being lenient with the accused of Hussain Khanwala child abuse scandal.

The Ganda Singhwala police also registered two more cases against the accused, taking the number of cases registered in the scandal to 24, on Saturday.

The suspended Moharars were found involved in “dispensing illegal favours” to the accused of the scandal. They are: Muhammad Ahmed, Muhammad Aslam Bhala, Muhammad Nazir and Muhammad Ashraf and Muhammad Amir of A-Division, B-Division, CIA and Ganda Singh police stations respectively.

The RPO had already suspended SHO Ganda Singh Muhammad Akmal for providing information to the accused regarding complainants of the country’s biggest child abuse scandal. On the other hand, the abuse victim families continued boycott of the JIT for sixth consecutive day and did not attend its proceedings. They are demanding cancellation of cases registered against 800 villagers for manhandling police officials, blocking road and snatching official weapons during a protest against the police, some weeks back.

The police had also registered two cases against the abuse victims after video clips surfaced, showing them as the abusers. It is also learnt that some applications have been lying pending against the victims and their relatives at the Ganda Singh police, submitted with the connivance of the police to press the victim families.

The police have arrested 15 accused including mastermind of the scandal Haseem Amir alias Haji who have been physical remand for 28 days. The JIT completed investigation into seven cases and has submitted its report to the Lahore High Court. It has also sent recovered video clips of child abuse for examination to forensic lab. PO Ali Nasir Rizvi said that the police would register a case if it receives any application. He also said that delinquent officials would be taken to task and justice would be provided to the scandal affected people.
