ISLAMABAD - At least four people died in two different road accidents yesterday.

In the first incident, two persons were killed and five other sustained serious injuries when a passenger van collided with a road barrier in G-13. The police sources said the incident took place due to over-speeding as passenger van (TS-786) skidded off the road and rammed into a road barrier. The victims, who were identified as Shahbaz and Abdus Samad, the residents of Chiniot, were returning to G-13 after attending Urs at Golra Sharif. The victims were rushed to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) where doctors pronounced them dead. The bodies were sent to native town for burial. The police registered a case against erring driver Shahid Iqbal and started investigation.

In the second incident, as many as two persons were killed and others sustained serious injuries when a car plunged into a ravine in Kahuta. The police said the deceased were identified as Nighat Massod, wife of a traffic police warden Imran Masood, and his son Kamran Masood. She was returning from Abbottabad with her brother when the speeding car plunged into ravine near Kahuta. The victims breathed their last at the scene.

The victims were shifted to Benazir Bhutto Hospital for medico-legal formalities before burial.

The police registered a case and started investigation.
