KARACHI - The panel of doctors, looking after Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Rashid Godil, has said that the patient is completely conscious as his brain is working and he is recognising everyone.

There has been overall improvement in the condition of Godil, said Anjum Rizvi, spokesperson of Liaquat National Hospital on Saturday.

He said Godil was being given diet solution and water through mouth after removing his Oesophagus (food pipe). Godil is improving constantly and his brain is working, said Rizvi. Godil is unable to speak due to pain. Doctors had stopped the pain killers and completely monitoring his condition.

He said the patient was under surveillance of an 18-member team of doctors, headed by LNH director and neurosurgeon Dr Salman Faridi. He is still in the intensive care unit (ICU).

Meanwhile, Federal Planning and Development Minister Ahsan Iqbal along with Senator Nehal Hashmi visited the LNH and inquired after the health of Godil. Talking to media men, he condemned the attack on MQM leader, saying he is here on the direction of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

To a question about PM Nawaz Sharif Karachi visit, he said PM Nawaz avoided visiting the MQM injured leader due to security concerns.

Earlier, Federal Minister Abid Sher Ali had also visited and inquired after the health of Godil on the Prime Minister’s direction.
