KARACHI - Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), after pulling out of the parliamentary politics, has decided to utilise its full energy for formation of a new province. The party had made this decision after reviewing the non-serious attitude of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif who did not even valued the mediation of the key politician Maulana Fazlur Rehman.

Talking to The Nation, MQM Coordination Committee member Ameenul Haq said the party showed flexibility in the negotiations process but the alleged aggressive and threatening attitude of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has forced them take serious step and decision was made not to negotiate further with the government.

To a question about consideration of any option to reinitiate dialogues in future, he said the MQM decision-making body of London and Pakistan had made this decision after reviewing the situation in depth.

It should be noted that earlier MQM has demanded to create at least 20 provinces for efficient administration and devolving power to the grassroots, he added.

To question about participation in the by-election and upcoming Local Bodies elections, he said it would be early to say because the decision would be made by the coordination committee in future. MQM has temporarily parted its ways from the parliamentary politics and decided to have complete focus on the welfare activities and formation of a new province.
