LAHORE – Following the Peshawar suicide attack, the city has been put on high alert to ensure foolproof security for the much-hyped public meeting of the Tehrik Minhaj-ul-Quran (TMQ) at Minar-e-Pakistan on Sunday (today). Police sources said that a comprehensive security plan is being implemented on the directions of DIG (Operations) Muhammad Tahir Rai with no less than two thousand policemen to be deployed around the Minar-e-Pakistan ground. Dozens of plainclothesmen would also be deployed among the public to keep a vigilant eye on the activities of miscreants. Every participant will have to pass through the scanners to enter the site after physical search, a police officer said, adding the entire locality would be sealed to thwart any possible terror attempt. A police officer, when asked, said that they had not received any specific security threat yet but the policemen are directed to remain on their toes owing to the recent spate of terror attacks in the country.
