AK Foundation & Fun City treat SOS children

LAHORE (PR): “Children bring along with them positive energy that elevates the spirit and livens up the overall ambiance of Fun City,” commented a member of Fun City - Pakistan’s first premier entertainment complex.  Dedicated to the cause of sharing a percentage of its revenue to exceptional causes through its CSR initiative One Good Heart, Fun City in collaboration with Amir Khan Foundation by international boxing champion Amir Khan, invited SOS Children at the entertainment complex. At least 90 children clad in AK Foundation tee-shirts along with caretakers and faculty members of SOS Children’s Villages where given an opportunity to enjoy the facility at the play land along with an exclusive treat at Fun City’s Mrs Mayor’s Café & Fun Bakery.  Cupcakes prepared by the Little Workers’ Union were also shared with the SOS Children.

Bank Alfalah launches Rising Talent Initiative

LAHORE (PR): Based on its progressive vision embodying ‘Care’, Bank Alfalah has launched a Rising Talent – Discovering the Potential of Pakistan platform to motivate, inspire and recognize young, upcoming talent in the country. This is an endeavor to provide meaningful opportunities to deserving upcoming talent, showcase emerging stories of optimism and ingenuity and hence help enhance Pakistan’s image at both a local and global level.

Soneri announces results

LAHORE (PR):  Soneri Bank Limited announced its results for the year ended 31 December 2013. The Chairman of the Bank, Alauddin Feerasta, presided over the Board that met in Lahore. The Bank posted profit after tax of Rs 1.037 billion. The Board noted with satisfaction that bank has met SBP’s Minimum Capital Requirement of the Rs. 10 billion, and has outperformed the market in both advances and deposit growth and achieved strong growth in all areas of the Bank’s operations. Deposits grew by 16.58% over 2012 and gross advances recorded a growth of 25.30% over 2012. It’s a great milestone that bank gross advances have crossed Rs. 100 billion.

Analyzing the reasons for successful performance in 2013, Bank sources explain that the increase in gross revenue was registered mainly on account of growth in main areas of activity; i.e. advances, deposits and trade, which allowed the bank to enhance its earnings from both investments and foreign exchange.

Furthermore, bank delivered well on its strategy to mobilize low cost deposits which had a positive impact on its spread. The Bank continues to follow a prudent policy for making provisions for the infected loan portfolio in line with regulatory requirements and is confident that actions taken in 2013 would further help in controlling future infections and securing upcoming recoveries.

Soneri Bank at year end has a branch network of 239 and intends to continue with its growth strategy. The branding and service quality programs which were successfully launched in 2013 will continue to be focused upon in 2014.

Pamco okays new projects

LAHORE (PR):  Board of Directors’ meeting of Punjab Agriculture & Meat Company was held at Lahore Meat Processing Complex here on yesterday to evaluate previous progress and to set new targets for the Company.Board appraised the previous projects’ progress of PAMCO and determined to continue the projects including Save the Calf, Feedlot Fattening, Thal Seedless Citrus Zone, Choolistan Seedless Grapes Zone, Pothohar Olive Zone and Kitchen Gardening for Lahore.

Members approved the projects and referred to Executive Committee to finalize them.

Board Members also appreciated PAMCO to reach 3500 per day animal slaughtering figure at Slaughterhouse for municipal consumption and export more than 80 Ton to Saudi Arabia, UAE and other countries in last two months. While discussing illegal slaughtering issue, Chief Minister’s Special advisorfor Livestock, MPA, Ch Arshad Jutt informed the House that Cant Slaughter is a big problem to eliminate illegal slaughtering as butchers used the stamp of cant slaughterhouse. Secretary Livestock, Dr Amir Ahmad told the House that Meat Shops registration is in process and Slaughtering Act is also in pipeline to be approved, hopefully it will be done soon and we will control illegal slaughtering from the town, he added.

Members also inspected slaughtering procedures at Lahore Meat Complex.Board Members participated in the meeting including MPA Ch Arshad Jutt, MPA Hussain Jehania Gardezi, MPA Saira Iftekhar, Secretary Livestock, Amir Ahmad, Farmers representative, Mian Shaukat Ali, Deputy Secretary Planning Livestock, Khalid Chaudhary, Representative from P&D department, Dr Naveed A Chaudhary, Representative form Livestock Department, Dr Asif sahi and other members form Agriculture and Livestock sector participated in the meeting.

Ufone becomes ISO 9001: 2008­

LAHORE (Staff Reporter): Keeping the philosophy of continuous improvement, Ufone has been consistently working towards improving quality mechanisms within its Customer Operations (COPS) Department. In doing so, Ufone has become successful in achieving ISO certification for COPS.

The ISO 9001:2008 Certification Audit for COPS was conducted by a renowned Norwegian-based company called Det Norske Veritas (DNV) which offers business assurance management system certification services.  Abdul Aziz, CEO Ufone also commented on this achievement, saying this is indeed a great milestone that we have achieved here at Ufone.

Not only has this turned our vision into reality, but has also initiated an unbelievable gathering of highly engaged people working towards an essential goal, and for what was thought to be a distant goal has finally been realized.

NOC mandatory before selling LDA plots

LAHORE  (PR): Owners of plots in the LDA housing schemes will have to obtain a No Objection Certificate from Lahore Development Authority as a mandatory condition before selling their plots. The NOC shall be valid for transferring a plot for a period of one year since the date of its issue.

On the directives of Director General Lahore Development Authority Ahad Khan Cheema, LDA has notified a revised ‘Standard Operating Procedure’ for issuance of No Objection Certificate for plots in LDA Schemes.  Applications seeking NOC, along with attested copies of transfer letter/ownership document(s) issued in the name of the owner , Computerized National Identity Card, Completion Certificate (if available) otherwise proof of valid building plan and application for issuance of Demand Notice for NOC will be submitted at One Window Cell of LDA.  Assistant Director of the concerned Directorate will receive the application at the One-Window. After preliminary scrutiny, the application will then be referred to the Assistance Director of the Revenue Wing at the One-Window who will issue the challan to the applicant for the process fee. The Challan Form shall also include a disclaimer that in case of discovery of any issue/problem in the ownership, the amount deposited as process fee shall be forfeited. The applicant shall be required to deposit the amount on the same day and bring back the receipt to the window for further process.   From One-Window, the application and the relevant documents shall be sent to the concerned Directorate of Land Development or Estate Management, whatever the case may be for further processing.
