ISLAMABAD: Like other parts of the globe, World Scouts Day was celebrated in Pakistan on Saturday.

The Day is celebrated as very special day in the scout's calendar. National scout associations celebrate this day as the Scout's Founder's Day.  It is celebrated as a very special day in the scout's calendar.  The Scouts celebrate the day by organising a host of outdoor activities and by extending support to their local communities. Girl Guides and Girl Scouts around the world also celebrate February 22 as World Thinking Day.It is a day to think about the meaning of Guiding and Scouting and about other countries and cultures.

In his messsage, President Mamnoon Hussain Saturday commended the scouts fraternity, especially the scouts of Pakistan, for their continued services to the humanity and serving as a source of inspiration to the young people.

The President said the observance of the World Scout Day signifies appreciation and recognition of the invaluable services of thousands of young scouts across the world who serve the humanity keeping aside all consideration of blood, race and creed. He said it was an occasion to pay tribute to the founder of the scouting movement Lord Stephenson Smith Powell and his followers who provided the youth an organised platform to render their services for the welfare of their fellow beings.

He observed that the real significance and the true purpose of the movement was clearly explained by Quaid-e-Azam who observed, "Scouting can play a very vital role in forming the character of our youth, promoting their physical mental and spiritual development, and making them well disciplined, useful and good citizens."–Staff Reporter/ APP
