LAHORE - City District Government retrieved 7-kanal land from illegal occupation and removed 350 permanent and temporary encroachment during anti-encroachment operation on fifth day on Saturday.

Joint team of Data Gunj Bakhsh Town, Ravi Town and Samanabad Town retrieved 7 kanal land during operation in Moon Market of Gulshan-e-Ravi. Land grabbers were running illegal parking stand on land worth Rs 280 million. The squad also confiscated five truckloads of encroached items.

Joint team of Shalamar Town, Aziz Bhatti Town and Wahga Town removed 300 temporary and permanent encroachment from Chamra Mandi Tezab Ahata and Coop Store. Four truckloads of encroached items were also confiscated. Gulberg Town administration confiscated two truckloads of encroached items during follow up operation in Faisal Town and Makka Colony. DCO Dr Ahmed Javaid Qazi said that operation would continue till elimination of encroachments from Lahore.

Separately, Special Magistrates on Saturday challaned 27 shopkeepers and imposed Rs 20500 fine for selling commodities at inflated price. Two shopkeepers were arrested for overcharging.

DCO Dr Ahmed Javaid Qazi said that the City District Government would continue operation against overcharging and hoarding of essential commodities.
