LAHORE - The Lahore High Court Thursday issued arrest warrants for the Election Commission of Pakistan secretary for not complying with the court’s order regarding fresh scrutiny of new parliamentarians.

Justice Shahzada Mazhar of the LHC heard the case. The judge issued arrest warrants for the secretary when he did not respond to the court’s notices issued four times.

As the proceedings commenced, the petitioner’s counsel told the judge that election commission had admitted in its review report that scrutiny of documents of parliamentarians was not made transparent.

He said the secretary had requested the courts to issue directions for the scrutiny of parliamentarians’ record.

The court will resume hearing on February 10.
