Punjab Ombudsman Javed Mahmood has ordered addition to personal allowance of those pensioners who were receiving it since 1994 to 2001. He has ordered the Punjab finance secretary to include extra amount in personal allowance of pension and submit report within a month. He also ordered him to issue necessary directions for revision and re-fixation of pension of the retired secretariat employees at the earliest. A number of retired secretariat employees had lodged a complaint, saying that the federal government, following the orders of SC, had allowed inclusion of this allowance with effect from June 16, 1994 to May 25, 2009. But the Punjab government was reluctant to implement the orders of both the Federal govt and the SC. The Punjab ombudsman had then directed Punjab Pension Cell Incharge Wazir Ahmad Qureshi to probe the issue.  The Punjab ombudsman, on the basis of inquiry report of Wazir Ahmad Qureshi, has now ordered of inclusion of personal allowance in pensioners who had been given this allowance from 1994 to 2001. He said the Federal government has implemented the order of SC and given relief to its employees.–Staff Reporter

He said the Punjab government should also give a relief to its retired employees. He also issued directions to the offices concerned for speedy payment of the arrears.
