Taliban militants Thursday killed eight pro-government tribesmen in an ambush in northwest tribal region, an official said. The victims were returning from a Jirga or traditional tribal gathering held to discuss strategies for combating Taliban militants in the tribal Orakzai region, local official Ahmed Khan said. "Armed Taliban stopped their vehicle, ordered the tribesmen to come out and shot them dead one by one," Khan said. The attack was the second against pro-government tribesmen in the area. Earlier this month, a suicide bomber blew himself up at a meeting of hundreds of anti-Taliban elders, killing around 40 people.
